Health and Care

We have eight programs under Health and Care – Health and Welfare; TB/HIV & AIDS and STIs; Climate Change in Health; Community Based Health and First Aid (CBHFA); Gender Based Violence inclusive in Emergencies; Health in Emergencies; Blood Donor recruitment and the NCD program.

Fiji Red Cross works alongside vulnerable communities to identify, prevent and address their priority health issues. These priority health issues focus on seven main areas:

  • Awareness raising and supporting local communities in implementing their prioritised health needs that are mapped out in their Community Action Plan.
  • Train volunteer gender champions to support communities in identifying causes and solutions to gender-based violence;
  • Provide advocacy and support with disability and post-hospital care;
  • Reduce impact of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) through interventions and initiatives such as backyard gardening;
  • Advocacy on Disease prevention and Hygiene promotion;
  • Conduct recruitment drives to increase the number of blood donors
  • Designing and disseminating effective Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials delivering effective community education.
